Korean production house, Studio Dragon, announced on May 8, 2020 that it has commenced the process of adapting the exceedingly popular Korean webtoon ‘Yumi’s Cells‘ into a drama.
According to Studio Dragon, the drama adaptation which is currently in its planning stages is scheduled for release in 2021 and will be adapted by scriptwriter Song Jae-Jung, who’s notable work includes 2007’s “High Kick without Hesitation” and 2018’s “Memories of the Alhambra Palace“.
“Yumi’s Cells” is a popular webtoon by webtoon artist Lee Dong-gun and is serialized on Naver Webtoon. In its lifetime, Yumi’s Cells has amassed over 3 billion views and tells the story of Yumi, a shy and introverted worker in her 30s, through the perspective of her brain cells, which are represented as little blue-suited men and women .
Yumi’s Cells argue, confer, and occasionally fight each other for control over Yumi‘s life all in an attempt to keep Yumi functioning day-to-day and prevent her from suffering too many embarrassing situations.
